RSNSW Student and ECR Awards Presentations 2023: March 2024 Gallery

The Society’s 2023 Awards for Students and Early Career Researchers were presented at a ceremony kindly hosted by Western Sydney University (WSU) at its Parramatta South Campus in Rydalmere on the evening of Wednesday 13 March 2024. The evening was introduced by Professor Clare Pollock, Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost of WSU, with the awards ceremony and presentations being compered by renowned ABC science journalist and presenter of the ABC Science Show, Robyn Williams AM FRSN FAA, who introduced each of the awards winners and interviewed them on their research following their presentations. Those presenting at the awards evening were:

• Dr Jaime Alvarado-Montes, Macquarie University (Jak Kelly Award) — Evolution of planetary systems under strong gravitational forces
• Mr Jayden McKinnon, University of Wollongong (Scholarship Winner) — Advancing mass spectrometry imaging towards the single-cell resolution
• Dr Jacinta Martin, University of Newcastle (Early Career Researcher Citation) — Mitigating the impact of environmental pollutants on neonatal health and development
• Dr Abhimanu Pandey, Australian National University (Early Career Researcher Citation) — Harnessing the immune system to tackle bowel cancer
• Dr Shoujin Wang , University of Technology Sydney (Early Career Researcher Citation) — Responsible AI-powered news recommender systems for combating fake news

Scholarship winner, Ms Sasha Bailey of the University of Sydney was unable to be present on the evening.
