Society Fellow, Professor H Deep Saini FRSN, has just been announced as the incoming, 18th Vice-Chancellor of the highly-ranked McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
Professor Saini who was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of NSW in 2017, during his tenure aas Vice-Chancellor at the University of Canberra, is curently the Vice-Chancellor of Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada.
Deep Saini is an accomplished resarcher in plant biology, with a MSc in botany from the Punjab Agricultural University and a PhD in plant physiology from the University of Adelaide. He has worked at four of Canada’s U15 universities, including as a Vice-President of University of Toronto and principal of the university’s Mississauga campus, Dean of the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo, and Director-General of the Plant Biology Research Institute at the Université de Montréal, prior to his executive appointments at the University of Canberra and Dalhousie University.
The Royal Society of NSW extends its warm congratulations to Professor Saini on on his forthcoming commencement as Vice-Chancellor of McGill University from 1 April 2023.
