On 23 November 2022, Professor Geraint Lewis FRSN FLSW, Professor of Astrophyics at the University of Sydney, in the 2021 Pollock Memorial Lecture took us on an enthralling tour of the dark side of the universe in his talk titled "Most of our universe is missing! Adventures in the dark side of the cosmos".  This presentation is now available on YouTube.

A week later on 30 November 2022, in the 2021 Poggendorff Lecture jointly presented by the Society and the Univesity of Sydney, Professor Richard Trethowan, Director of the Plant Breeding Institute of the University of Sydney, delivered a not-to-be-missed talk titled "A plant breeder’s perspective on food security and climate change" which is now available on YouTube. In the talk, Richard Trethowan explored the improvements in crop production, robustness, and resilience made possible by improvements in the science of plant breeding over the decades, but focused on current imperatives as our climate becomes less stable and international commodity markets more fickle.

In the following week, on 7 December 2022, Scientia Professor Rose Amal AC FRSN FAA FTSE from UNSW and winner of the Royal Society of NSW James Cook Medal for 2021 delivered the lecture at the Society's final event for 2022. Professor Amal is an eminent chemical engineer and the audience enjoyed a stimulating presentation titled "Harnessing solar energy through catalysis to make chemicals and fuel" of her pioneering work in engineering systems for solar and chemical conversion applications.
