The Society is delighted to learn of the awards to the following Fellows and Members whose names appear in the 2025 Australia Day Honours List.

The following have been honoured as Officers of the Order of Australia (AO).

Professor Andrew Blakers AO FRSN FAA FTSE, Emeritus Professor in the Research School of Engineering at the Australian National University, for distinguished service to science in the field of solar cell development, and as an advocate for energy storage and renewable technologies,

The Hon. Justice Brian Preston AO FRSN SC, Chief Judge of the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales, for distinguished service to the judiciary and the law, to legal academia, and to environmental and natural resources governance and education.

Scientia Professor Veena Sahajwalla AO FRSN FAA FTSE, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Materials Research and Technology at UNSW Sydney, for distinguished service to science as an engineer and inventor, to sustainable materials research and technology and waste management.
