Summary: This event in the UNE Clean Tech Future series, presented jointly with the Royal Society of NSW, is dedicated to exploring the immense potential and opportunities arising from the New England region’s transformation into the largest renewable energy zone in New South Wales. The transition embodied by the New England Renewable Energy Zone promises to reshape the region’s future, attracting substantial private sector investments of up to $10.7 billion and generating approximately 830 operational jobs and 1,250 construction jobs. In this presentation and panel session, Professor Renate Egan of the Australian Centre for Photovoltaics will consider the opportunities for the community and business through electrification.
Professor Renate Egan is the Executive Director of the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics at UNSW Sydney and has led manufacturing and industrial technology development of energy technologies in Australia, Germany, and China. She is a Co-Founder of Solar Analytics, Australia’s largest independent energy monitoring provider and was named one of Eight Great Women in the Business of Science and Solar by Renewable Energy World. She was recently inducted into the Australian Smart Energy Council Hall of Fame. An innovator, entrepreneur and academic, Renate is passionate about using her skills to increase the uptake of solar and accelerate the energy transition.
